This is an organic coconut and dark chocolate combination which is worth the higher price in the candy bar arena.

The chocolate has a once snap on top of the chewy coconut. I paid $1.99 at Safeway and it was worth it.

They also make toffee, and peanut butter bars, so be on the look out and when you spot one, buy it! And oh my, they have mini bars, too!

Their web site states “OCHO Candy was created to provide candy lovers with a delicious, organic alternative to traditional candy bars. We use the finest ingredients and hand craft our bars so that you can taste the difference in every bite.”

Real chocolate jimmies, at last!

When I was little, the sprinkles on ice cream were called jimmies, and they were real chocolate. Today’s sprinkles found on the grocery shelves are made with oils and artificial flavors and colors. They are just plain gross.
I had given up on finding chocolate jimmies and was ready to put them in my in memoriam section in the blog, but what to my wondering eyes should appear at the Whole Foods, but the real thing! These are called dark chocolate vermicelli, but believe me, these are the jimmies of my youth. Horray!

Side note: Jimmies were recently accused of being a racial slur. This is untue, and it is vetted on snopes. End of story.

Talenti gelato: molto benne

Oh wow, my daughter bought this talenti banana chocolate swirl gelato, and it is soooo good! I found it in the freezer, and was curious, and now I can’t put it back. The banana flavor is sweet and subtle, and there are dark chocolate shavings and swirls of caramel. Such an amazing combination!
Banana can be a tricky flavor. Often times it’s flavor is so fake in candies, but it’s very real here. The gelato is all natural, vegetarian, gluten free, HFCS free, Hormone free and Kosher. I’m glad that it comes in pints, because I know that I could eat more…
Go out and get some of this soon. I look forward to trying their other flavors.

Lavender and Blueberry in your chocolate

Dagoba has a winner with this combination of lavender and blueberry in dark chocolate. I was a bit skeptical, so I bought a small square, and now I’ll need to go back for a full-sized bar.
The chocolate is very satisfying without being too sweet, and it’s organic, too. Win, win, win.

Don’t be afraid of the Dark Reeses

Oh so good…the dark chocolate is less sweet than the milk chocolate version, and it compliments the salty peanut butter perfectly. I wonder how these would taste in S’mores?

Viva Starbuck’s Peppermint Mocha Via!

Mmmm…this is good. 8 oz. of hot milk plus a packet, and you have a peppermint mocha. I add extra coffee for a little more zip. A dollop of whipped cream and you’ll think that you’re at the North Pole. All this without needing to utter the insipid “I’ll have a grande….” Horray!

Dove Peppermint Bark, Christmas in a bite

Oh how I love to discover a new seasonal sweet! These may have been around for a few years, but they’re new to me.
Here are little bites of peppermint bark. Just the perfect nibble-size without over indulging. The white chocolate top has candy cane bits inside, and the bottom is dark chocolate. Together they form a perfect treat, and are a new favorite. I’ll need to stock up next time I’m at the store, and you should, too.
